Do you have an idea that could help change personal mobility forever? The Toyota Mobility Foundation has contacted us to tell us about the Mobility Unlimited Challenge.
The Toyota Mobility Foundation was established in 2014 to support the development of a more mobile society. The foundation uses Toyota’s expertise in technology, safety, and the environment and works with universities, research institutions, and other organisations to address mobility issues around the world. This is why Toyota Mobility Foundation and Nesta’s Centre for Challenge Prizes are launching the Mobility Unlimited Challenge, a $4 million global race to transform the lives of people with lower limb paralysis. They are looking for the greatest minds in technology, design, and engineering from all four corners of the globe, who will compete to create a device that will make the world more accessible for people with lower limb paralysis.
What’s next?
As part of the Mobility Unlimited Challenge, the foundation is providing ten teams with seed grants of $50,000 to support their entry into the main prize, as they know not everyone will have the means to enter by themselves, and may need extra support. These prize funds are called the Discovery Awards.
